# Highlight changes

Cell change flashing briefly highlights cells changed by editing, pasting, or data transactions. It helps users locate recent changes in tables with many live prices or quantities.

## How it works and when to use it

Unlike persistent conditional formatting, this indicator fades away. Provide an audit log if users need to review change history later.

## Example 1. Enable cell change flashing

Enable change flashing in a Grid with editable columns.

```javascript
grid.cellChangeFlash = true;
```

Verify the result: Edit a quantity cell and finish editing to see a temporary highlight on the changed cell.

## Example 2. Highlight server updates

Update a row with an existing ID through a transaction.

```javascript
const row = grid.rowData[0];
if (row) await grid.applyTransaction({ update: [{ ...row, quantity: Number(row.quantity) + 1 }] });
```

Verify the result: This makes changed cells easier to identify than replacing the entire data set. getRowId must remain consistent before and after updates.

## Example 3. Configure a high-frequency view

For many updates per second, batch incoming changes in your app and apply them at suitable intervals. If highlights appear continuously, reconsider the update interval or which cells use flashing.

Verify the result: Keep current values accurate while giving users time to see where changes occurred. Do not treat flashing itself as a success notification.

## Combining features and troubleshooting

Do not assign conflicting values to cellChangeFlash and its compatibility option enableCellChangeFlash. Use one configuration path.

Test the distinction between supplying a similar new object and actually changing a cell value.
